Shirley was born in Odessa, Texas on October 17, 1951 to Barney and Joy Smith. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1970. She married Bill Anderson in 1970. They had two daughters, Heather and Corrie. She received several business degrees from Odessa College.
She worked at many jobs throughout her life. She was a manager for an oil field supply company, a Deputy Reserve Sheriff and a 911 Operator. She was a preschool teacher at Temple Baptist, and was active in and a supporter of Junior League of Odessa. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She was always full of adventure and laughs, gave the best hugs and smiled the best smiles.
She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Heather and Wendall McKenzie, Corrie and Angel Villarral; 13 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brother Barney Smith, Jr., and wife Jan.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father.
A visitation for Shirley will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home, 601 N Alleghaney Ave, Odessa, Texas 79761. A celebration of life will occur Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home with Pastor Andy Gutierrez officiating.
Serving as pallbearers are Angel Villarreal, Wendall McKenzie, Ian McKenzie, Dillon Thompson, Christopher Taylor and Anthony Gutierrez.
