

Velma Luclle Brown, 97, of Odessa passed away on January 6 2016. Lucille was born
October 7, 1918 in Post, Texas to Minnie Custer and F. C. Collins. She married Glenn O.
Brown on November 1, 1941.
Glenn O. and Lucille started Brown Electric Company in Odessa in 1947, and Lucille
continued to work with the company, which is now managed by Glenn Ray Brown, until
2005. Lucille was Sunday School Secretary at First United Methodist Church in Odessa
for many years before she retired from that duty at the age of 90. She served as the
President of the Odessa Chapter of Women in Construction and as Chairman of the
1975-76 Odessa Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors. She was known for her love of
sports and was an avid Mojo fan. She was especially proud to serve as the first female
officer of the Permian High School Panthers Booster Club. Lucille loved to drive and for
years she and her yellow Thunderbird were a common site on the streets of Odessa.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Glenn O., sister Beulah and
brothers Lee and Ray.
She is survived by her son, Glenn Ray Brown and wife, Deana Savage, of Midland;
daughter Debra Brown-Thompson and husband, Dave, of Edwardsville, Illinois;
granddaughter Daniella Judge and great-grandsons Curran and Gavin Judge of Ft. Worth;
and dear friend Paul Bryant of Odessa.
A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 13th. The family asks
that memorials be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
