Billie Faye Daniel passed away June 29, 2013 in Oklahoma City. She was born in Rochelle, TX on March 23, 1924 to Otis and Ruby Mitchell. Billie graduated from Rochelle High School and alone, at the age of 18, left by train for Fort Worth with her sights on fulfilling her childhood dream of becoming a nurse. While at the cadet nursing program, she met the love of her life, Fred S. (Danny) Daniel, a Corpsman in the Navy. The two had a whirl-wind romance and married just three months after meeting. They went on to share many adventures until his death in May of 1992. Billie did graduate from a four year nursing program to become a registered nurse. She went on to work in surgery at Harris Hospital in Fort Worth and later at the Gilbert Clinic in Bethany, OK. She was a talented artist and accomplished seamstress, avid traveler, bridge player, loved reading and was a good friend. As a faithful Christian, Billie made Mayfair Church of Christ her home congregation for the last 30+ years. Her dog, Corkey, brought her much happiness during the last years of her life. She lead an epic life, traveling the world with her husband and friends, having fun, laughing and making others laugh, helping others, loving her children and grandchildren. Seeing it all she enjoyed the upside of life, and her strong conviction led her through the downside. Mrs. Daniel leaves behind four daughters and their husbands, Freddie Daniel of OKC, Cheryl and Jim Powell of Ponca City, Debbie and Carl Stevens of The Woodlands, TX and Laura and Burl Butler of OKC. Also nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. We would like to thank Ruth Brown, Billie’s caregiver for the love and care shown to her. Services will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Mayfair Church of Christ, with burial following at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. 322 Eight Ave., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001
