June 19, 1928-November 22, 2019
Several people knew her as Bobbie or Jeanie or BobbieJean either way she greeted you with a smile.
Bobbie passed away early November 22 peaceably. She is now with her mother and other family members that awaited her in Heaven.
Bobbie was born in Hobart, Oklahoma. She and her family moved around until they settled near Midwest City. It is there at Tinker Air Force Base that she met her husband of 74 years, Thetus Bright. Her nickname for him was Bright. She and Bright had two sons, Thetus H. Bright, Jr. and Terry “BlackBear” Bright. She had 1 granddaughter and many grand children on BlackBear’s side of the family.
Bobbie was a homemaker. She was raised in the era where she cooked, cleaned and hosted get together with friends and family at her home with Bright. She was a conversationalist. She always had something to say. You didn’t want to watch a movie with her because she would talk through the whole movie.
Bobbie loved fashion. She bought many fashion books and designed her clothing around what she saw and liked. Many of times she would purchase clothing and then re-design them to what she wanted them to look like. She loved fur hats and had many different ones to wear with her outfits. She re-designed a fur coat; she didn’t like the length so she shorten the coat to meet her needs. She also would buy many suits and silk shirts and then either hung them in plastic wrap and put them away or she would purchase many suit cases and pack them full of purses, outfits and shoes. To this day we have many of those items. She loved to accessorize these outfits as well. She would purchase purses, necklaces, earrings and scarf’s to go with her many outfits. If she was tired of the outfits or thought that they would look better on other people, she would give them away and tell you how exactly to wear it. She never left the house unless she was dressed to the “T” with a smart outfit, heels and purse. But if she were home her outfits would be peasant shirts and short shorts with heels. I even saw her cut the lawn in those outfits and heels! She worked a short time at John A. Brown and learned about makeup and facial cleansers. She always had a great complexion. She knew what creams were best and what makeup to use. She never used the cheap stuff. Perfumes were the same way with her, you bought the good stuff.
Bobbie loved to decorate. It seemed every time we visited the house, it was decorated different. The lady never sat down for a moment. She would cut out postcards or magazine pictures then frame them and hung them on the wall. She would build bird houses out of different materials and hang them outside. Bedspreads were sewn with different shapes of material to match what was popular in that season.
Among Bobbie’s traits, she was a self published writer of poems. She was also recognized in the National Library of Congress in which several poems were inducted.
Bobbie was known for her card readings. She held your future in each card she read and gave you advice on how to precede with the knowledge she gave. But most of all, she listened to her clients and just gave advice or consoled them.
Bobbie is preceded in death by her husband Thetus H. Bright, Mother Bertha Mae Brown, Father William E. Lowe, Brother John Canon Sumner, Brother Joe Sumner, Brother Willam E. Lowe, Jr.
Her family will miss her but she will always be in our heart and memories. She is at peace now.
