Charles Morris Maurice Bassett

Charles "Morris" Maurice Bassett, 88 of Midwest City, OK and formerly of Shelbyville, IN., passed away 11/16/2010. He was the son of Charles and Bessie (Fortner) Bassett born on 5/16/1922 in Shelby County. He graduated from Moral Township High School in 1940 and was a member of Little Blue River Baptist Church of Shelby Co. and Sooner Baptist Church in Midwest City, OK. He retired after many years as a school bus driver for Shelby Eastern Schools and Midwest City School System. He enjoyed traveling and visiting with family and friends. Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Norma (High) Bassett in 2007, by his parents, 1 brother, Raymond Bassett, 2 sisters: Virginia Bassett and Mary Frances Bassett, and daughter, Mila "Jody" Coy. His survivors include one son, Mark Bassett and wife Debra of Shelbyville and several step children; his nephew, John Bassett, and niece, Judy Fish both of Bloomington; 6 grandchildren: Mark, John & Doug Bassett, Cari Coy, Lisa Roberts and Brent Coy; 11 great-grand children: Madison, Logan, Braxton, Braden & Makayda Bassett, Erick, Mackenzie, Mariah & Tyson Coy, Emma & Adyson Roberts. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 19, 2010 at Sooner Baptist Church, 5824 S.E. 15th, MWC with funeral services to follow at 11:00 A.M., with Reverend Bill Spain officiating. Memorial services will be held in Shelbyville, IN at a later date.
