Charles Wendall Stoabs passed away June 18, 2020 just after celebrating his 90th birthday. Wendall was born June 16, 1930 in Alfalfa County, Oklahoma, just 5 miles north of the Great Salt Plains.
He graduated Jet High School in 1948 where he was Valedictorian of his class. He went on to receive his Bachelors of Science in Trade and Industrial Education from Oklahoma A & M in 1953.
Wendall served his country in the U.S. Air Force where he was a pilot. Afterward, he worked as a carpenter and then as a piping and pressure vessel draftsman.
Wendall and his wife Norma were members of Lakeside United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher.
He was so proud the day each of his three children were born. He was active in their lives, and even coached Little League Baseball.
Wendall enjoyed gardening, bible study, and was good at fixing anything.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles D. and Hazel D. (Dale) Stoabs; daughters Janice (Stoabs) Standage-Wade and Priscilla (Stoabs) Barrett; and brothers James Delbert Stoabs, Virgil Stoabs, Alfred Stoabs, and Lowell Gene Stoabs.
Wendall is survived by his wife Norma, his son Charles D. and wife Laura Stoabs of Oklahoma City; brother Leon Stoabs and wife Shirley of Carlsbad, California; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 23 from 4-8 pm. A service to celebrate Wendall’s life will be 10 am, Wednesday, June 24 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home (limited seating). Interment will be in Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
