

Charles Everett “Charlie” Troutman, 104, passed away peacefully on October 5th, 2023 in Lecanto, FL. Charlie was born June 28th, 1919 in Troutman, NC. He was the ninth child of Charlie Bruce and Julia Gertrude Troutman.
Charles was a WWII combat veteran serving in the 674th Bombardment Squadron of the Army Air Corp from 1940 to 1945, and was at Pearl Harbor when Japan surrendered. He achieved the rank of Master Sergeant and received numerous awards and citation during his service.
Charlie and Betty settled in Oklahoma City, OK after war where he remained most of his life. Charlie worked as a machinist who restored antique automobile engines. He was a long-time, highly regarded member of the Horseless Carriage Club of America. The antique engines he rebuilt were famously referred to as “Troutman Engines” because of his exceptional craftsmanship.
He relocated to Citrus Hills, FL in 2015 to be near his son “Mike” Troutman. He suffered a serious fall in 2022 and never fully recovered from a head injury. He will be buried next to his wife Betty at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Oklahoma City, OK.
Charlie is survived by his son Charles Michael Troutman, grandchildren Traci R. Apple and Joshua J. Troutman and great grandchildren.
Charlie was predeceased by his wife of 65 years Betty Deviney Troutman, parents Charlie Bruce Troutman and Julia Gertrude Troutman, siblings Bessie Lenore, Lillian Viola, Fred, Lucy, Elizabeth, Annie, James Edward, Francis William, and Samuel Bruce, and daughter Betty Jean Morten.
A graveside service with military honors for Charles will be held Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 8701 Northwest Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK 73162.
