

Clara Sue Durant Coplin, long-time resident of Piedmont, OK, passed away peacefully at 83 years of age. Sue was born February 1934 near Jesse, Oklahoma to Charley Davis and Mary Elizabeth (Gill) Durant. She attended East Central State College and married her love, Ken Coplin in 1956. She loved children and taught for over 30 years, most recently at Buchanan Elementary School.
After retirement, Sue volunteered at the library to share her love of reading for as long as she was able. She loved to challenge herself with puzzles, crosswords, and cryptograms. Sue was a loving mother and grandmother, raising four boys. She was always encouraging to others and rarely complained in any situation.
Sue is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ken Coplin, two sons, Max Andrew (Dorothy) and James Paul, three grandchildren, James Albert (Dallas), Mackenzie Allison-Marie, Keegan Robert, and two great-grandsons, Ian Christopher and Elliot Daniel. Sue is also survived by her sister, Dorla Dean “Doe” Blue, and two brothers, John Milton “Pete” (Nona) Durant and Darrell Gene (Sandra) Durant. Sue was preceded in death by her oldest son, Daniel Wayne Coplin, her parents, Charley Davis Durant and Mary Elizabeth Gill Durant, and two brothers, Glenn Charles Durant and Albert Daniel Durant.
The funeral service will be at 1:30 PM on Monday, July 24, 2017, at the Piedmont First Baptist Church. Arrangements under the direction of Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Oklahoma City, OK.
