David William Caton was born in Westchester, Massachusetts on December 15, 1951 to Jonas Oliver Caton and Flora Belle Harris. In 1984, he met and married his soulmate, Denise Reinking Caton of Oklahoma City here at Messiah and together, welcomed their beautiful daughter Jennifer into the world in 1985.
Surviving family members are his wife, Denise and Jennifer, a son-in-law Randy McCarty, grandson Hunter Jackson, a step-granddaughter, Kerstyn, mother-in-law Barbara Reinking, and two brothers-in-law, Todd and Greg Reinking. His surviving brothers and sisters include, De De Borgason of Maine, Phyllis Debra Edgecomb, John Edward Walker, Bonnie Belle Walker all of Indiana and James Patrick Walker and his wife Barbara of Kansas City.
David was a security officer at Deaconess Hospital for 20 years and loved every minute of it. He took his responsibility of protecting people very seriously and formed life-long friendships with his fellow officers. He learned to overcome dyslexia with his wife’s help and while working at Deaconess, he learned computer skills, an accomplishment that he was so proud of.
David became a cancer survivor when his lung was removed in 2000. The Lord graciously gave him another 16 years with his family. He got to walk his daughter down the aisle and welcome his grandson in 2012. Hunter and his Papa soon became best buddies and David enjoyed his time babysitting and teaching him his ABC’s, colors, and numbers.
When cancer appeared again last December, David was courageous in his fight, but the Lord called him home on December 5, 2016.
