David Harvey Reeves, age 79, of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024. He was born October 2, 1945, to Claude L. Reeves and Evangeline A. Long in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. David proudly served in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1972, stationed in California and on the USS Oriskany, where he served his country with dedication and courage.
Before his military service, David pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Central State University. His career and life were driven by a desire to help others, a value he passed on to his family, teaching them the importance of compassion, commitment, and integrity. He taught those around him the importance of a strong marriage and being a great parent.
David married the love of his life, Elaine Neal Reeves, on September 21, 1967. Together, they built a strong foundation for their family and shared a beautiful life.
David is survived by his daughter, Kirsten Thompson (Jeffrey) of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren: Lance David Thompson, Allie Rae Thompson, and Liam David Reeves; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Claude Reeves and Evangeline Long; son: Neal Reeves; sister: Dorothy Cathey (Don) and Francis Wilkinson (Richard).
David’s love for life was often found in simple pleasures: sunny days, the sound of 60’s folk and classical music, and driving his red Miata “LC” through the mountains with the top down, Elaine by his side. An animal lover, David shared a special bond with his Shelties, whom he loved and spoiled dearly.
A visitation for David will be held Friday, November 15, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper, 6600 Broadway Extension, Oklahoma City, OK 73116. A funeral service will occur Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper. A graveside service will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park, 6001 NW Grand Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73118.
