Delmer Jay Siemens was born December 05, 1927 to Dietrich (DICK) E. Siemens and Selma E Balzer Siemens in Cordell, OK. He passed away Sept 19, 2021 in the Capital Hill Skilled Nursing facility after having covid and then pneumonia. He was there for 9 days after a 10 day stay at the hospital. He has resided with his daughter, Linda Ratcliff, in Oklahoma City since 2016.
Delmer married Wilma D. Ewing in Kansas City, Kansas Sept 23rd, 1949. They were married for over 64 years before Wilma passed away in 2014. Today would’ve been their 72nd anniversary. They moved to Cordell, Ok after getting married and stayed there about 3 years before moving to Oklahoma City where he became a barber at Taft Barber Shop on 23rd and N. May. Around 1965, Delmer started working for the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier and remained there until he retired at age 65.
Delmer graduated from high school in Cowden Oklahoma. He then joined the Army and was sent to Japan for a while before being honorably discharged due to a medical condition. Delmer attended some trade schools and that is where he met Wilma Ewing in Kansas City, Kansas.
Delmer was a faithful member of the Church of Christ at NW 37th and Meridian in Oklahoma City where he gave lessons and lead songs. While he loved singing, photography and airplanes, Delmer had quite the sense of humor and loved to tease. His grandkids loves this about him.
Delmer was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Selma Siemens, 2 sisters, Iola Siemens and Ruby Bannister, and 2 brothers, Laverne and Kenny. He is survived by his only daughter of the home, Linda Ratcliff and 3 grandchildren, Travis Ratcliff and Tonya, Brandt Ratcliff and Tiffany, Heather McKinish and Mike. He has 25 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his dear brother Gene and Glenda Siemens and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral Service will be held Sept 23, 2021 at 12pm at the Advantage Chapel South at 7720 S. Pennsylvania in Oklahoma City. Interment will be at Resthaven Cemetery in Oklahoma at SW 104thand Western. Visitation will be Wednesday Sept 22, 2021 from 12PM to 8 PM with family present from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
