Delores June Banister, age 90, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 30, 2024. Delores was born to Lydia and Herbert Hern in Westville, Oklahoma on September 22, 1934, moving to Oklahoma City at 16 finished high school and was working at a dress shop downtown, attended church where she met her love, J.C. Banister, married November 5th, 1954. Making their home in Oklahoma City, became a mother to two wonderful boys (they say 😊) and an exceptional homemaker. She and J.C took a leap of faith opening their own business in 1964 “J.C Banister Garage” on N. Western Ave., where she did the bookkeeping and once the wonderful young men had matured (they say 😊), she went to work fulltime at Dr. Brown’s and Dr. Ressler’s offices where she met lifelong friends. She modeled clothing several times and loved to pair clothing and jewelry together and truly missed her calling as an Interior Decorator (they say 😉).
Delores was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Delores had a zest for life, loved entertaining in her home. She always had an element of class and was known for being the life of every party. She cherished her home, which was always beautifully decorated and found joy in spending time outdoors. She was an avid reader of books until she got her first Kindle. Summer was her favorite season, while winter wasn’t, making her passing in the cold month's bittersweet for her family.
