Dolores Boyle passed away on August 25, 2011 in Norman, Oklahoma after a brief illness. She was born in Oklahoma City on December 14, 1921 to Ralph and Amanda Stephens. She attended Classen High School, Fairmont College in Washington D. C., and the University of Oklahoma, where she pursued a degree in Home Economics. Her parents owned and operated the Dolores Restaurant, for which Dolores said she could take no credit. She was just fortunate to have the establishment named for her. Several months after WWII ended, she married J. Philip Boyle, Jr. on December 19, 1945. They were happily married for 52 years prior to his death in 1998. She enjoyed volunteering for many organizations, including the Junior League of Oklahoma City, St. George’s Guild at St. Paul’s Cathedral, All Souls Episcopal Church, and the Museum Store at the Omniplex. Dolores has told us repeatedly to let all know “I had a very happy life.” She will miss her lifelong friends; many of which she had since childhood. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Amanda Stephens, her husband Phil Boyle, and her brothers Bob and Vincent Stephens. She is survived by her daughter Dail and husband Jim Cobb of Norman, OK, and daughter Laurie Boyle of Oklahoma City as well as her grandchildren, Phil Cobb of Los Angeles, CA., and Sydney and her husband Grant McCurdy of Ft. Worth, TX. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Connor and Mae McCurdy, her sisters-in-law, Betty Replogle and Donnelle Stephens both of Oklahoma City and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of St. Mary Mother of Our Lord at All Souls Episcopal Church. The family of Mrs. Boyle would like to thank her caregivers Mercy and Lydia, the staff at Brookhaven Extended Care in Norman, and Heartland Hospice for their kindness toward their Mother.
