Dolores June Lay

Dolores June Lay, age 93, passed away peacefully on June 19,2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Born on June 6, 1932, also in Oklahoma City, she spent most of her life rooted in the community that shaped her and that she deeply cherished.

Known to many as June, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and friend whose warmth and kindness touched countless lives. Her enduring love for family and friends was evident in every aspect of her life. She found joy in simple pleasures like crocheting as long as she could, immersing herself in books, and sharing laughter over card games with friends during her time at Danforth Senior Center. June’s faith was a guiding light throughout her life. She was a longtime member of Partland Avenue Baptist Church, where she found spiritual strength and fellowship.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: Gary (Monica) Hughes, Denise (Michael) Oleson, Greg (Dawn) Hughes, and Mark (Kyla) Hughes; her brother Ted (Patricia) Johnson; her stepdaughters: Gloria Draper and Linda Ford. Her legacy continues through her 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. She also leaves behind many more family members and friends who were dedicated to her throughout the years.

June was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister.

Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Capital Hill Skilled Facility for their compassionate care over the past three years. Their dedication brought comfort during June’s final chapter.

June will be greatly missed by all who know her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she inspired with her love, strength, and unwavering spirit. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her.

A viewing will be held on June 26th, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper, 6600 Broadway Extension, OKC, OK. A graveside service will be held on June 28th, 2025, at 10:00 am at Rose Hill Burial Park, 6001 NW Grand Blvd, OKC, OK.
