Donald McGlashan passed away on February 1, 2021, at the age of 89.
He was born in Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania on March 5, 1931. After graduating from East Pittsburgh High School, in 1948 he enlisted and served in the US Air Force from June 1949 to December 1952 achieving the rank of Sargent. Don spent most of his enlisted time in Goose Bay, Greenland. After leaving the service he continued to work at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City where he met and married the love of his life, Bernie. As a civilian, Don worked at Tinker AFB while attending OCU, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Industrial Arts Degree in Electronics. He then went to work at FAA designing and teaching computer programming. He retired in 1987 to enjoy traveling, fishing, and relaxing at the lake.
Throughout his life Don was a #1 Pittsburgh Steelers Fan having played shuffleboard with many of the original players as a young boy. He shared his love of sports with his daughters coaching many of them in basketball and softball. He also was an active member of his community supporting his church by serving on the Parish Church Council and the Mount Saint Mary High School Board.
Don is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Wanda Bernadine(Bernie) Rader; Father, Donald McGlashan, Sr. and Mother, Clare Louise Couch; sister, Carol and husband Richard Pivirotto.
He is survived by five daughters, Diane and husband Charlie Wilson; Cheryl and husband Don Fennell; Mary and husband Jeff Colley; Carol and husband Michael White; Gail and husband Chris Conarty. Ten grandchildren; Karla Wilson Eiklor, CJ Wilson, Cassie Wilson Kicklighter, Shannon Fennell Storozyszyn, Jennifer Fennell Nguyen, Emily Colley Vaughn, Jill Colley, Stefanie White Brown, Trevor White, Carson Conarty; Twelve great-grandchildren; Kristian Eiklor, Khloe Eiklor, Maddie Kicklighter, Kenzie Kicklighter, Mason Storozyszyn, Cole Storozyszyn, Blake Storozyszyn, Faith Nguyen, Claire Nguyen, Preslee Brown, Ryder Brown, Collyn Vaughn and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. James Catholic School, OKC, or Mount St. Mary High School -Girls Athletics.
