Born November 19, 1935, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma was the daughter of Chester Earl Sexton and Lutie Morris Sexton Kahdot. Grew up in Oklahoma City and went to Classen High School where she’s Letter in Badminton and graduated in 1952 at the age of 16.
On July 17, 1952, she married Coy Lindall (Bud) Wood. Together they raised three children. In 1961, Erlene went to work for the family business, Wood and Sons Paving as the financial wizard to keep the business going. She became the President in 2013 until retirement in May of 2020.
Erlene was instrumental in getting Little League softball started in Edmond, Oklahoma along with C.E. Hafer. She was a Girl Scout Leader, scorekeeper for the baseball teams, she was a member of the Edmond Band Booster and Edmond Athletic Booster Clubs.
Erlene went to every baseball, football, softball, wrestling, soccer, rodeo, flag football and programs that her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren were participating in that she was able to go to. She was a football season ticket holder for over 50 years at the University of Oklahoma.
She is survived by her children Buddy Michael Wood and wife Christine of Oklahoma City, OK, and Kathleen Wood Williams of Luther, OK; brother Joe Thomas Sexton (Sissy), Seven grandchildren, Leesa Myers (John), Dustin Wood (Lindsey), Shane Wood, Chad Williams (Kendra), Lindall Wood (Kasey), Shelley Winston (Alan), Kristin Flaming (Justin), and twenty two great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild along with nieces and nephews.
Erlene was preceded by her husband Coy L. (Bud) Wood, son John C. Wood, daughter-in-law Vivian Veitch Wood, son-in-law Wesley Williams, her parents Earl Sexton and Lutie Sexton Kahdot, sister Martha Lea Sexton, and three great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 8701 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will take place on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
