Faye Nell "Faynell" L. Rainey

Oklahoma City - Faye Nell "Faynell" Lewis Rainey, 96, passed to her heavenly home to be with her Lord on March 31, 2016. She was born to Walter D. & Mary Edith (Richmond) Lewis on September 7, 1919 in Jasper, MO. She was the second of four children raised in Sarcoxie, MO where she graduated high school in 1937. She worked in a doctor's office where she made the decision to become a nurse. She attended nursing school at Springfield Baptist Nursing School and graduated in 1941. After becoming an R.N., she worked at the Springfield Baptist Hospital, where she met husband Dwight. Faynell Lewis and Dwight Rainey were married in 1940 and were the proud parents of William Eugene, Lewis C. and Nancy. Faynell worked at St John's Hospital in Springfield, MO. In 1955, the family moved to Oklahoma City where she began working for Wesley Hospital, later becoming Presbyterian Hospital. Here she worked on various floors and became Head Nurse on the Orthopedic & Neurology floor before retiring in 1988. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight; son, William Eugene; parents, Walter D. & Mary Edith Lewis; sister, Helen Redford; brother, Delmar Lewis; brother, Carroll Lewis; sister-in-law, Eleanor Lewis; and nephew, Larry Lewis.

She is survived by son, Lewis (and Linda) Rainey; daughter, Nancy Clark; daughter-in-law, Sherry Rainey; sister-in-law, Alma Faye Lewis; five grandchildren and their children: Kim (and Brandon, Casey, Carley, & Carson) Loeffler; Rick (and Madison, Sophie, & Billy) Rainey; Jennifer (and Josh, Isaac, & Rainey) Evans; John Clark; & Kari (and Jamal Sr., Jamal Jr., Ericka, Jahmad, & Zada) James. Faynell's memorial celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, April 5 at 2 p.m. at Putnam City Baptist Church. Burial will take place immediately following at Memorial Park Cemetery. Viewing is April 4 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The family would like to thank Integris Hospital 5 East and Integris Hospice. In lieu of flowers, Faynell would like donations to be made out to Putnam City Baptist Church - building fund.
