Frances Elizabeth Duke age 95 of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma died peacefully at her home on Monday January 25th 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents Eugene Albert Duke and mother Mrs. May Duke, her brother Major Albert B. Duke and infant brother Joseph Duke.
Frances graduated from Oklahoma University with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in 1942.
She taught for a short time in Guthrie Oklahoma and then served during WWII in the Women’s Army Corp as a Second Lieutenant and was stationed in New Guinea. Frances worked for City Service Oil Company for a time.
Frances loved science and was published in a FAA scientific journal at age 91. She also had a great interest in computer programing. Horses were a lifelong passion and she was an accomplished rider competing and winning in hunter jumper events. She had many wonderful horses over the years and was a skilled horse trainer. Another great interest was competing in the sport of fencing which she taught at the college level and competed both locally and nationally.
Services will be held at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper with gathering reception at 2:30 and services at 3:00 pm Saturday January 30th. Interment to be at Rose Hill Burial Park following services.
