Gaytra Ann Arnold peacefully entered into eternal rest on December 21st, 2024, at the age of 76. She passed away quietly in her sleep, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and compassion. Gaytra was a devoted Christian whose unwavering faith guided her throughout her life’s journey. She was a loving wife, a dedicated mother, a treasured sister, and a beloved aunt.
Born on August 10th, 1948, in Oklahoma City, Gaytra was the daughter of Stanley Eugene and Dorothy Jean Lesser. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School and went on to contribute significantly to her community, working in various medical offices while also being an active member of her local YMCA. However, her greatest calling came when she became a full-time mother and manager of the household, a role she embraced with grace and devotion.
Gaytra’s impeccable taste and creativity shone in everything she did. She had a natural gift for interior design, gardening, and floral arrangements, sharing her beautiful creations with family and friends. She was always ready to offer a helping hand, whether it was in creating a perfect setting for a gathering or providing a comforting presence during challenging times. Known for her kindness and reliability, Gaytra was a steadfast friend and family member—someone you could always turn to in times of need.
Throughout her life, Gaytra was a loyal caregiver, offering her love and support to her parents, grandmother, and her beloved husband, Leonard Wesley Arnold, whom she cared for during his battle with Alzheimer’s in the later years of their 57-year marriage. Together, Gaytra and Leonard were long-time members of Quail Springs Baptist Church and more recently, Southern Hills Baptist Church.
Gaytra is survived by her caring sister, Stephanie Mae Jackson; her daughter, Lauri Korstjens, and her husband, Daryn; several cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Leonard, and her son, Allan Eugene Arnold.
While we mourn Gaytra’s passing, we take comfort in knowing that she has been called home to be with her Heavenly Father. As we bid farewell to Gaytra Ann Arnold, we celebrate her life of faith, love, and devotion. Her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her, encouraging us to live with a deep faith, a love for others, and a true zest for life. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
A memorial service honoring Gaytra's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease Association.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Tracie from Visiting Angels Private Duty Care, caregiver and friend Karen Armstrong, and the compassionate team at Integris Hospice House for their support and care during Gaytra’s final days.
