Gina spent her early childhood in Frederick, Oklahoma, before moving with her family to Oklahoma City when she was in junior high school. She graduated from Putnam City High School in 1976 and attended Oklahoma State University, where she became a proud member of the Chi Omega Sorority. After college, Gina returned to Oklahoma City and began her professional journey. In 2000, she and her daughter, Brooke, moved to Tulsa to be closer to her twin sister, Vicki Ihrig, and her family. Gina remained in Tulsa for the rest of her life until her final days when she moved to Bartlesville for care.
Professionally, Gina dedicated her career to radio, working as a traffic manager for KXY in Oklahoma City and Cox Radio in Tulsa. She later served her community by working in home health care, providing compassionate care for the elderly. She was also a longtime member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Later, she was also a member of Full Gospel World Mission, a church she attended when her daughter married Christopher Lynn, the church’s lead pastor.
Gina’s favorite music included Lionel Richie, Celine Dion, 90’s country, and Christian music. Her perfect day was spent in her rocking chair with a Diet Coke, watching comedies or news, surrounded by her beloved animals. She taught her family to always think the best of people and to help those in need. Gina wanted to be remembered as a loving mom, family member, and friend who adored her family, grandchildren, and fur babies.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Billie and Caroll Hunt; and her twin sister, Vicki Ihrig. Gina is survived by her daughter, Brooke Lynn, and her husband, Christopher Lynn, of Poteau, Oklahoma; her two grandchildren, John Lynn and Luke Lynn; her brother-in-law, Kevin Ihrig; and her nephews, Brandon Ihrig and Micah Ihrig.
A memorial service for Gina will be held Monday, December 9, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper, 6600 Broadway Extension, Oklahoma City, OK 73116. Following the memorial service will be a graveside service at 3:30 PM at Resurrection Cemetery, 7801 Northwest Expy, Oklahoma City, OK 73132.
