Grace Geraldine Florence

Grace Geraldine Florence “Gerry”, age 88, passed away on February 21, 2025, at her home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, surrounded by family. Gerry was the wife of Bill Florence. They shared 52 years of marriage, having wed four months after meeting on a blind date arranged by her lifelong friend, Peggy.

Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Gerry was the daughter of Grace and Euin Gibson. She earned her associate degree in Occupational Therapy in 1979 and dedicated 22 years of service as an Occupational Therapist for Oklahoma City Public Schools.

A devout Christian, Gerry was a faithful member of Exchange Avenue Baptist Church until her passing. She deeply loved her family, her dogs, arts and crafts, and spending time working in her yard. A talented artist, Gerry shared her creativity and nurturing spirit as an occupational therapist, Sunday school teacher, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her strength and determination, always leaning on her faith in God through life’s challenges. Despite her toughness, Gerry’s love for others shone even brighter. She dedicated her life to serving God and enriching the lives of those around her.

Gerry is survived by her son, Brent Florence, along with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Gaje Florence; her husband, Bill Florence; and her daughter, Teri Schachle.

Services:

Funeral Service: Thursday, February 27, at 2:00 p.m. at Exchange Avenue Baptist Church, 1312 S. Pennsylvania Ave, Oklahoma City, OK. Immediately followed by a graveside service at Resthaven Cemetery.

Celebration of Life: Thursday, February 27, at 12:00 p.m. at Exchange Avenue Baptist Church, where family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and enjoy a meal in Gerry’s honor.

Viewing & Visitation: Tuesday, February 25, and Wednesday, February 26, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Advantage Funeral Home, 7720 S. Pennsylvania Ave, Oklahoma City, OK.
