

Helen Kay McGilberry, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026, at the age of 74, in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Born on July 5, 1951, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, Helen lit up the world with her powerful spirit and kind heart, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. Helen was the daughter of Chester G. and Helen I.Trent, and she grew up in a large family that fostered in her a deep sense of love and connection. She was preceded in death by 10 siblings and her cherished granddaughter, Hannah Urbina. Helen's family was her greatest treasure, and she leaves behind her loving daughter, Wendi Urbina, and her husband Clifton, along with her devoted sister, Melody Faught. She was a proud grandmother to Elijah Urbina, Teylor Villanueva and his spouse Cheyenne. Her legacy continues through her three great-grandchildren, Bryier, Kamberly, and Tayson, who brought immense joy and laughter into her life. In addition, she is also survived by a wealth of extended family, both by birth and those she embraced as her own, all of whom will miss her dearly. For over 30 years, Helen dedicated herself to a career in apartment management, where her work ethic and professionalism earned her the respect and affection of many. Her work was more than just a job; it was a testament to her commitment to community and service, always going the extra mile for her tenants. Helen was known for her unique personality and sense of style. She had a particular fondness for Betty Boop, which reflected her playful and youthful spirit. Her love for khaki skorts and white Keds became a signature part of her wardrobe, showcasing her practical yet cheerful approach to life. Helen had a way of taking over any room she entered, and her infectious laughter and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Despite her challenges with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), Helen faced each day with resilience and grace. Her strength and determination inspired those around her, and her unwavering love for her family was a source of comfort in her final days. As we remember Helen Kay McGilberry, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by her family and friends.
