Hugh Ross Burch, DDS, was born on March 27, 1940, in Carlsbad, New Mexico, to Louie and June Burch. He was raised in the oil fields of Southeast New Mexico, and the town of Artesia. A gifted athlete, Hugh was recruited by Bud Wilkinson to play quarterback at the University of Oklahoma. A devastating car accident ended that dream, but set Hugh on the path for a medical career.
He attended Baylor University and Baylor College of Dentistry. Hugh practiced dentistry in Oklahoma City for 50 years. Hugh loved being a dentist and was one of the few people we knew that was excited to go to work on Monday morning.
Hugh loved the Pals Golf Weekend and the reunions with his Baylor friends. Hugh enjoyed playing golf, traveling, especially to Green Turtle Cay, playing bridge, and spending time in New Mexico. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Hugh helped establish the dental clinic at Crossings Clinic, and also volunteered his time at many dental clinics around Oklahoma City.
Hugh was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Wanda Booker. Hugh is survived by his wife Timi, children Kim and Randy Warren (Matt, Katy, Betsy); Derek and Amy Burch (Brett, Sarah, Anna, Carter, Colton); Angie and Skeet Tingle (Zach, Jon, Hannah, Abbie); Ashlee and Kenson Vance (Grayson, Olivia); Dwight (Cody, Molly, Macy, Ella, Hope, Hannah); stepchildren Aaron Ahpeatone (Bauer); and Adrienne Husted (Hayden, Emma). Hugh also has 20 great grandchildren, beloved nieces and nephew Pam Booker, Becky Anderson and Mike Booker, and special cousins Tish, Michael, Michael and Jessie Svagdis.
Hugh’s service will be 10:00 am, Friday, January 24, 2025, in the Crossings Community Church chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crossing Community Church, Voice of Hope Initiative, 14600 N. Portland Oklahoma City, OK 73134.
