Humberto Aguirre-Márquez, 69, of Durango, Mexico, passed away on February 7th, 2021. His battle with heart failure and other medical issues showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, my father stayed strong until the end.
He married Irma Aguirre, his lifelong companion, who survives him. Humberto is also survived by his daughters and son Junior Aguirre, Eva Aguirre, and Marissa Aguirre.
He was born to parents Eustacia Marquez and Pánfilo Aguirre on April 10th, 1951, in Durango, Mexico. Since the age of 10, he worked on the ranch he grew up in. His very first job as a child was planting seeds and helping his mother and father provide for his eleven siblings. Humberto grew up to be a hard worker and after his dad’s passing, he became the man of the house.
He met Irma in 1984, in Santa María del Oro, Durango at the house of my mom’s friend who was my father’s cousin. A year later, they came to the United States to start their own family and achieve a better life.
As the man of the house, he would always talk about the difficulties he faced during his life. But, even through difficulties, he was always caring and giving to his family, children, and grandchildren.
He was never a man of many words, but he taught us what it means to be a wonderful father and grandfather. He was a firm man in his principles but no matter what was always supportive because of his unconditional love.
