Jim was born in Oklahoma City on August 25, 1923. He served in the Marine Corps in the South Pacific during World War II from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1946.
In 1949 Jim met Mary Lee Williams and they were married in April of that year.
They made their home in Oklahoma City where they raised their sons Jeff, Jim and Pete.
Jim worked as a manufacturers representative beginning in 1962, he retired from that business in 1988 and started another business that he ran until he was in his late 80’s.
Jim was an active member of his church, Central Presbyterian Church where he was an active member for over 60 years serving as a Deacon and an Elder. He was also active in Rotary where he served as an officer, additionally he supported the Urban Mission, Contact and the Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lee. He is survived by sons Jeff, Jim and his wife Karen, Pete and his wife Deretta, 16 grandchildren and 33 great-grand children and numerous relatives.
A Memorial Service with the Rev. Everett Miller presiding will be held on Saturday, May 26th at 10:00 am at Central Presbyterian Church, located at 5101 N. May Avenue in Oklahoma City.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made in Jim’s name to Central Presbyterian Church where those contributions unless specified otherwise will be divided with one third each benefitting the Church, Urban Mission and the Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital.
