James Elmer Thornburg, 85, resident of Jones Oklahoma, went to heaven March 28, 2026. Born November 1, 1940, in Loudon, Tennessee, he was the son of Bud and Lillie (Randolph) Thornburg.
He retired from USMC after 22 years as a Master Sergeant E8. He then spent 20 years and retired from USPS. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and a proud member of the NWTF.
James was preceded in death by his son Raymond Thornburg.
James is survived by his wife, Rhonda of Jones, Oklahoma, his daughter, Robin (Jason Bonifant) of Jones, Oklahoma, his 2 grandsons, Kaden Thornburg (Shay Lee) of Midwest City, Oklahoma and James Thornburg of Buckeye, Arizona, great-grandson Raymond Thornburg of Midwest City, Oklahoma and his sister Bess (Billy Lawhon) of Philadelphia, Tennessee.
A memorial service will be held at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd St, Oklahoma City, OK 73141 from 1pm to 5pm on April 2, 2026.
