

Janita Beth King was born June 25, 1918 in Orange, TX to James & Mamie Friggle. She passed away on October 23, 2010 in Oklahoma City. She grew up in the Seminole, OK area. Janita married Richard F. King and they enjoyed 57 wonderful years of marriage before his passing. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. She was a creative seamstress for her three daughters. Every Christmas she sewed a complete layette for their dolls.
When their children were grown and Dick retired, they traveled extensively throughout the world, visiting Europe, Russia, South America and taking many cruises. She and Dick were avid Blazer hockey fans – attending both home and away games. She also enjoyed camping, boating, bowling and square dancing. She and Dick traveled the US in their 5th Wheeler as well. They especially liked spending time in Las Vegas, going to shows and playing Bingo and Keno on Fremont Street.
When they were ready to settle down after all these adventures, they chose to reside in McAllen, TX for many years. Janita moved back to Oklahoma in 2002. During her years in OKC, she enjoyed spending time with her daughters, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She found much joy in attending their dance recitals, sports games and other activities.
Janita was preceded in death by husband, Richard F King, her son Richard F. King Jr., daughter Patricia Bird and grandson, Joe S. Rolston IV. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Shirley & Joe S Rolston III and Suzie & Keith Rodgers, as well as six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Wednesday, October 27 at 1:00 p.m. at Guardian West Funeral Home Chapel, 5820 NW 41st Street, Warr Acres, OK 73122. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Hospice of Oklahoma County, Inc. http://www.hospiceokcounty.com/
