Jerry Wayne Downs

Jerry Wayne Downs, Beloved Husband, Dad, Papa, Brother, Uncle and Friend departed this Earth on December 29th, 2010 to spend eternity in Heaven. Jerry was born May 15th, 1950 in Checotah, OK to William and Minnie Downs. The fourth of five children Jerry knew the value of and importance of family at a young age. Jerry married his high school sweetheart Mary Sue Cannon to whom he has been married for 42 years. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents William and Minnie. Jerry is survived by his wife Mary; daughters, Michelle and Pam; six grandsons, Brandon; Hayden; Dalton; Connor; Dylan; and Parker; two granddaughters, Tiffany and Tia; and one great-grandson, Jayden; his siblings, Louise; Kenneth; William; and Judy; and a host of nieces and nephews. Jerry’s greatest pleasure in life was spending time with family. Jerry was no stranger to hard work and had a long career as a mechanic. He loved collecting Hot Wheels; Driving his Corvette around town; Family get-togethers; Flea Markets and anyplace there was a bargain to be found; spoiling his grandchildren; and attending church. Jerry’s kindness, wit, sense of humor and loving personality will be missed by everyone who knew him. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 3, 2011 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel with Pastor Dan Miller and Pastor Brian Cannon officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Memory Gardens, Midwest City, OK. Jerry considered one of his most important accomplishments to be his acceptance of Jesus Christ into his life.
