Born June 30, 1938, in Oklahoma City, OK. to Allen Legg and Helen Lorraine (Huddleston) Legg.
Jerry passed away Saturday, October 18th, 2025.
Jerry was a graduate of the Bethany High School class of 1956, where he was selected Little All City Back of the Year in 1955 and All State in football. Jerry received a football scholarship to the University of Oklahoma, where he spent one season.
Jerry married Barbara Jean McGill on December 21st, 1956.
Jerry spent many years in law enforcement, starting at the Bethany Police Department, before moving to the Oklahoma City Police Department where he retired after 20 years of service. During his time at O.C.P.D he worked in the Patrol Division, Robbery Homicide, Vice and Narcotics. Jerry worked with many great police officers, and many of his law enforcement brothers stayed connected after retirement. Jerry also worked as a car salesman for Norm Smith Auto Sales.
Jerry loved playing golf during the summers and always looked forward to playing in the Bethany High School reunion tournament.
In the fall his passion turned to hunting dove, quail and pheasant. He loved watching his dogs work and he made many trips to hunt in Nebraska.
Jerry loved his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching his granddaughter Tiffany and her horse Mieko run barrels, his grandson Cody rope and ride cutting horses, and his granddaughter Tyler singing and performing in plays.
Of all the things he loved, his greatest love was his wife of 67 years, Barbara.
Jerry is preceded in death by his wife Barbara, his parents, sisters Barbara Sue "Susie" Moore and Cathy Wooden, brother William (Buddy) Legg and grandson Christopher Alan Legg.
Jerry is survived by his son Jerry and wife Shannon; son John and his wife Rolanda “Ralph”, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, located at 8701 Northwest Expressway, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on October 23, 2025, at 11:00 am.
