

Jessie Harold Simmons was born March 24, 1931 in Connorsville, Indiana to Harry and Clarabelle and made their home in Louisville, KY. Jessie died September 10, 2010 at his home. He graduated from Caanan High School in Caanan, Indiana. Jessie married Virginia Stephens on June 12, 1965 at Trinity Lutheran Church in El Reno, OK. Jessie was in the U.S. Navy and served his country during the Korean War. He was assigned to the Battleship Rochester as a gunnermate. After getting out of the Navy, Jessie lived in California before moving to Oklahoma. Jessie loved to fish and hunt. Early in their marriage Jessie and Virginia competed in trap shoots. They also loved to bowl. Jessie began as a television repairman for General Electric Co. and later cross trained on all large appliances. He was the chief steward for the IBEW Union while working for GE and retired from General Electric in 1992. Jessie became a City Councilman for Warr Acres for four years and afterwards was Mayor of that city for 3 years. Jessie always loved to have friends and fellow workers over to his house for parties of any kind. Jessie is survived by his wife, Virginia, 4 daughters and 1 son; Dixie Lloyd and wife Debbie of Grandbury, TX ,Debbie Fredrickson and husband Bill of Ceres, CA, Ivey DeLoera and husband Pedro Deloera of Bethany, OK, Jennifer Jones and husband Bob of Warr Acres, OK and Mendy Blankenship and husband Brian of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by 3 brothers; Joe and Raymond of Louisville, KY, Ralph of Lewisville, TX, and 1 sister, Francis Harris of Lewisville TX. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers; James and Fred, 2 sisters: Nancy O’Connor and Mary Gilliand, 1 daughter, Dawn and 1 son, Danny. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, September 13, 2010, at Messiah Lutheran Church with burial in Frisco Cemetery.
