Jimmy Carroll Tittle, known to all as Jim, passed away unexpectedly at home on April 9, 2026 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Born on February 7, 1943 in Texarkana, Arkansas. Jim lived a life defined by curiosity, warmth and an unwavering devotion to the people he loved.
As the youngest of 13 children to Willie Sally and Jim Frank Tittle, Jim placed a priority on education as he was the first in his family to graduate from college. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree while playing football at Southern State University in Magnolia, Arkansas and a second Bachelor of Science in Control Engineering from the University of Texas Permian Basin. While working as a Control Engineer in the oil and gas industry, he received a Master of Science in Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. He was proud of his Professional Engineer designation from the State of Oklahoma and State of Texas as well as being a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Drawing on his expertise, Jim later pursued a second career in safety engineering and became a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers.
Out of college, Jim worked at Dresser Atlas in Pearland, TX before joining Hunt Oil in Houston and Midland, TX. Later, Jim purchased Engineering Systems and moved the family to Oklahoma City before he started Jim Tittle Engineering & Consulting.
Starting in 2003, Jim channeled his passion for helping and teaching through his work as an adjunct professor at Oklahoma City Community College, Rose State College, University of Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University - OKC.
Jim is survived by his wife, Robbie, and his children; Julie and Adam Benson, Jeremy and Leslie Tittle, Chance Howard, Tonya Rowlett, Brent and Sanna Rowlett, Mendi Rowlett, Sharon Howard, Lisa and Curt Frye, Stephaine and Larry Turner, grandchildren; Ainsley Benson, Allyson and Frank Robles Mercado, Harper Tittle, Laura Frye, Maddie Pitt, Myers and Griffin Brown, Richard and Christine Rowlett, McKenna Pitt, Drake Turner, Joshua Rowlett, his former wife; Jerri Tittle and, a host of nieces and nephews.
Jim is preceded in death by he and Jerri’s daughter, Jolie, his mother, father and siblings. Jim will be interned with his daughter Jolie in Texarkana, Texas.
Jim had two great loves: his family and his passion for travel. He was known for always showing up - whether for a performance at Carnegie Hall, a school recital, a sporting event, or helping a grandchild move into a new home - he was there, without question. You could always count on a fantastic family gathering at Thanksgiving and Christmas, where all were welcome.
Once the grandchildren were old enough, he created “Camp Tittle,” an annual summer tradition that took them on adventures to places like Arizona and Washington, D.C. Later, he and Robbie began a special tradition of taking each grandchild on a Sweet 16 cruise.
After retirement, Jim and Robbie spent their time traveling the world on incredible adventures, cruising through Europe, Asia, and everywhere in between. The family celebrated Jim’s 80th birthday on a Mexican Riviera cruise and hiked to the Mirador El Faro lighthouse in Mazatlán to commemorate the occasion. Last year, Jim and Robbie were joined by Chance, and together they cruised around Japan for two weeks. When the return plane tickets were more than Jim thought reasonable, they decided to cruise back instead, adding three weeks to the trip.
Last month, Jim and Robbie cruised the Caribbean with four of their granddaughters - Ainsley, Allyson, Maddie and McKenna - who had missed his 80th birthday cruise due to their college studies.
When Jim was not traveling, you could find him on his deck with a drink in his hand, and a dog by his side, joined by family and friends.
