He was always a hardworking man, with many capabilities. Joe spent time working in crop duster maintenance, surveying with Gulf petroleum, an electrician with Phillips 66, gas and electrical instrumentation supervisor with Johnson Controls - Los Alamos National Lab.
Joe will be dearly missed by his loving family; to which he is survived by his children, Mitchell Avent of Alvarado, TX, Lee Ann Norris of Newalla, OK, Travis Avent of Macomb, OK, and Stephen Avent of Edmond, OK; siblings, Anita Handy of Carlsbad, NM and Travis Avent of Albuquerque, NM. He also leaves behind grandchildren, Brandon Stout of Clayton, NC, Bryce Stout of Yukon, OK, Casey Avent of Oklahoma City, OK, Miranda Apodaca of Moore, OK, and Dylan Avent of Edmond, OK; and great grandchildren, Everly Stout, Bennett Stout, Tagen Apodaca, and Kohei Apodaca to cherish his memory.
Visitation at Chapel Hill Funeral Home is scheduled for Tuesday, May 25, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and the family will receive friends between the hours of 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm. A funeral service in honor of Joe will take place on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 8701 N.W. Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK 73162.
