Joe Oldham passed away peacefully on June 29, 2011. He touched many lives through his compassion, humor and purpose. Joe was born in Guthrie, Oklahoma on October 28, 1925 to Lloyd and Stella Oldham. He joined the Navy after high school in 1945 and served until the war ended. Joe went to OSU in 1946 and joined the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, serving as president in his senior year. He was later inducted into the fraternity’s hall of fame. Joe graduated in 1950 and joined his brother Don Oldham at Miller-Norris Co. He met and married our mother, the love of his life, Patsy Foltz in 1952. They moved to Edgemere in1959 and Joe and Patsy were instrumental in preserving the neighborhood through designation as an historic district and convincing the Department of Transportation to erect sound barriers between Edgemere and the Broadway Extension. Joe and Don sold Miller Norris in 1996. Joe retired but stayed busy spending time with Patsy, visiting friends and playing golf at Twin Hills. In later years, they moved to Epworth Villa where Joe was active in presiding at social gatherings and chairing the men’s breakfasts. He also supported the Presbyterian Mission and delivered Mobile Meals. Joe and Patsy enjoyed 51 years of marriage together until her death in 2004.
