

Scott Powers 66, 8/8/1958 - 9/7/2024
Joel Scott Powers was experiencing cancer for the fourth time since 2019, and he passed away peacefully in his home under hospice care after two weeks in the hospital. He leaves behind his wife, Susan Powers of the home in Midwest City, his mother and step-father, Yvonne and Larry Russell of Cupertino, California, his brother and his wife, John and Barbara Powers of Garland, Texas, his brother and his wife, Mark and Heather Russell of Los Gatos, California, and other loved nieces and nephew.
He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Joe and Irma Powers.
Scott was well liked and fun to be around. Scott had many interests in his life. His main interest was in music. He played trumpet, piano, recorder and other instruments. He loved traditional jazz and the music of the Renaissance. He received an Associate’s Degree at Central State University in Music Performance. He had a jazz band, played in a band at church in Phoenix, Arizona and a Renaissance music ensemble in Moore, Oklahoma.
He also had interests in computer programming, astronomy, scuba diving, sailing, wood working, ceramics, where he made architectural tiles, and Bible Study. He also went to x-ray school at Rose Stare College for a degree in Radiologic Technology. He worked as a radiological technician, had his own computer programming business and managed a custom cabinet door company, Hutchinson Products in Oklahoma City.
He was a member of Meadowood Baptist Church in Midwest City, Oklahoma, and was very devout in his faith in Jesus Christ.
