I met Commander Sparks 20 years ago, and he was a good and kind friend.  The photo of him attached to this obituary was taken in my dining room as we were heading off to a performance at the opera. I have so many beautiful memories of him, a stalwart sailor and officer, someone who was generous with his talents, someone who continued to learn and grow throughout his life.  I’m sorry I learned of his passing because of an undeliverable e-mail.  I will say Kaddish.

Sorry for your loss. I remember when he and Sherri met. He was so kind to her and to her family. He will be missed.
