Joyce Rosemary (Peschl) Calderwood, age 83, of Bethany, OK, passed away January 7, 2024. Joyce was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on November 29, 1940, to Jim and Marseda (Barr) Peschl. Joyce loved life and all its beauty. She loved to spend time outside feeding the birds, watering the grass, and enjoying the breeze passing through the trees. Joyce went back to school later in life and received her master’s in education from Oklahoma City University. She taught elementary and middle school art before retiring. Joyce’s three great loves in life were God, her family, and art. Joyce’s passion for art could be seen through the numerous paintings hanging in her house, the abundant art supplies that she kept on hand for all to use, as well as the immense number of blankets that she made. These blankets were made by hand, with love, for her family, friends, as well as being donated to those in need. Greater than her love for art, though, was her love for her family. Time spent with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids was her absolute favorite. And though her family will miss her dearly, we are thankful that she is free from pain and living the everlasting life.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Jim Peschl and Marseda McHolland.
She was survived by her sister Janet Acosta; her children, Michael Wage and wife Lauren, Angie Wage, Mikki Fleenor and husband Robert, Lechelle Calderwood, and Josh Calderwood and wife Laura; her grandchildren, Hallie, Spencer, Sasha, Marshall, Kathy, Anthony, Brandie, Jonathan, Dylan, Ava, and Kinley; as well as 13 great grandchildren and 2 nephews, Cary Acosta and wife Leah, and Ashley Acosta and wife Michelle.
A service to celebrate Joyce’s life will be held at 10am on Monday, January 15, 2024, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Oklahoma City.
