Elaine was born in El Paso, Texas on February 3, 1937 to Wilson and Elizabeth Durham. Shortly after, she and her family moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma where she graduated from Muskogee High School in 1955. She went on to attend the University of Arkansas where she was an active member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.
She later moved to Oklahoma City where she went to work at Western Electric. There, she met and married Clinton Mason and they had two sons, Ken and Scott. Elaine devoted a large portion of her life to raising her two boys who went on to become a doctor and a veterinarian.
In addition to caring for her young family, she began work as a secretary in the Oklahoma State Legislature. She then moved on to become executive secretary for the Oklahoma Tax Commission. She retired after 30+ years of service to the State of Oklahoma.
Following retirement, she moved to Tulsa to be near family and friends. There she served as a volunteer at Saint Francis Hospital. She also enjoyed trips to visit Jack Dobbins in Tahlequah and they attended many events at Northeastern State University. She later returned to Oklahoma City where she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her two great-grandchildren.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband Clint, her parents Wilson and Elizabeth Durham, and her brother Sonny. She is survived by her two sons, Ken and Scott, her sister Betty Price, her four granddaughters, Kayla, Michelle, Courtney, and Sydney, her two great-grandchildren, Charleston and Palmer, and her niece and nephew Lisa Price and George Price. Elaine was widely known as extremely caring and overly generous. She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery, 7500 W. Britton Rd. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73132.
