

Judith Kay Gigstad (Judy), beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed peacefully to her heavenly home on April 14, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born on February 26, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Clark and Mildred Reid, Judy grew up alongside her younger sister, Shirley Reid.
Judy attended Kansas State University, where she was a proud member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She later met her husband, Dean Gigstad, at an adult singles class at church, and they married on May 16, 1964. Judy worked as a medical technician in virology at KU, while Dean managed the dairy department at Safeway. In 1969, Dean’s job brought the family to Oklahoma City, where Judy would make her home for the next 57 years. Their family grew with the arrival of their sons, Mark and Jeff.
Judy was deeply involved in her community, participating in Junior Hospitality, PTA, Meals on Wheels, book club, and enjoying many years of tennis at Woodlake Tennis Club. She was also a published author, leaving a legacy of creativity and dedication.
Judy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Dean; and her parents, Clark and Mildred Reid. She is survived by her sons, Mark and Jeff (Sarah); five grandchildren, Hannah Mae Orynczak (Adam), Caden, Jens, Justine, and Mira; her sister, Shirley Reid; and brother-in-law, Delbert Gigstad.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 19th at 2:00pm at First Presbyterian Church of Edmond, 1001 S. Rankin St, Edmond, OK 73034.
Judy’s warmth, kindness, and devotion to her family and community will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
