Judith Ann Woody, longtime resident of Oklahoma City and Edmond, passed away on September 24th, 2015. Beloved wife of Claude Samuel Woody, Jr., she is also survived by her sister, Kathi Lewis Lepley of Albuquerque, New Mexico, a nephew, Kevin Lewis; her nieces, Laura Baiamonte, husband Brennan; Audrey Lepley; step daughters, Cheryl Demas, husband Mike; Ciane Hogan, husband Brad; grandchildren, Jordan Demas, Hayden Demas, Clayton Demas, Caton Hogan, Sam Hogan, and Daniel Hogan; Great Grandchild Carly Demas; uncles, aunts, cousins and many longtime friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth L. Andrews, Oklahoma City, OK.
Judith Ann graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1961 with honors and attended Oklahoma State University. She was employed as a legal secretary for several years in a prestigious law firm in Oklahoma City. In 1972 she married attorney, Claude Woody, and became his partner in several business enterprises. They became the owners of Woody Candy Company in 1984. Judith Ann established a retail candy department for the company, which had previously supplied only wholesale accounts.
Her Judith Ann Candies' label became a favorite for holidays and special events because she made absolutely certain that her confections were fresh, delicious and elegantly packaged for her customers, many of whom became her close friends.
Judith had many interests and was active in the local community throughout her years. She was interested in and proud of her family's heritage and became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was an active member of the Col. John Starke, Sr. Chapter since joining in 1989. She served as a Docent at the Oklahoma City Zoo and the National Cowboy Museum and she was also a supporter of the Oklahoma Heritage Museum.
Her true passion in her married life was in helping her husband pursue his interest in art. She studied art with him in New York City, where he attended classes, and as they toured the art museums in various cities across the US and Europe. She worked as his assistant and critic in the painting of portraits for which he is well known.
Her family was always on her mind and her love and support was never far away. She enjoyed spoiling everyone with candy and gifts for all the special occasions in life. She took care of her friends and was available to lend an ear and a helping hand when she could.
She loved this great country, her husband, her family and her friends with a brave, courageous, and faithful heart while living with a chronic health issue which finally overtook her. Judith Ann left us all with a true admiration for her special talents, perseverance and accomplishments. She is forever in OUR hearts. The family is grateful for the special care Judith Ann received in her final days at Mercy Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Judith Ann's name to: MD Anderson Cancer Center (www.mdanderson.org/fall16) or DAR (www.dar.org/guardiantrust)
A Memorial Service will be held at Hahn-Cook Street & Draper Funeral Home on Sunday, October 18th, at 2:00 P.M.
