Kathryn Jaunenne Plumbtree passed away September 8, 2022 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at her home. She was born on October 18, 1931 to Cal and Thelma Bolin in Hollister, Oklahoma. During her early years, she worked for Gish Funeral Home and Gish Furniture of Frederick, Oklahoma. After the family’s move to Oklahoma City, she worked for Dr. Kimball, a plastic surgeon, until his retirement, and later was the office manager for Metroplex Reporters, a family court reporter business.
Kathryn married E.L. Plumbtree on July 24, 1949. She remained married to him through his passing on November 10, 2018. They enjoyed lake activities all their lives. Weekends were spent at lakes camping, skiing, and fishing with their family. After E.L.’s retirement, they moved full time to Lake Texoma before health concerns brought them back to Oklahoma City to be closer to medical care. They hosted numerous parties at the lake and everyone enjoyed the hospitality and food they shared at such gatherings.
Kathryn was a great cook and host at gatherings for her friends and family. If you were one of her kids’ high school friends, you may have been the underaged recipient of one of her famous food-colored daiquiris. She and her three sisters would also frequently get their families together for raucous parties with all their families present from time to time. Ear plugs optional. She had many friends throughout her life wherever she lived and she enjoyed being around them all. She loved her lake life from an early time after getting married until they left Lake Texoma.
Kathryn is survived by her children, Steve, Vicki, and Jana; by her grandchildren, Scott, Landon, Cody, Austin, Macy, Clay; and by her great grandchildren, Adelyn, Kathryn, and Bridget. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Bernice, Wylda, and Margie.
At Kathryn’s request, burial will be private with no graveside services handled by Chapel Hill Funeral Home of Oklahoma City on September 14, 2022.
She touched the lives of so many and lived a long life to its fullest. She leaves behind so many friends and family that will miss her. The world was blessed by her time among us.
