Lorene Daphna (Williams) Watson, born January 25, 1918, the second of five daughters of Clifford and Margaret Williams of Hobart, OK, was called home April 27, 2011. Upon graduation from Hobart High School in 1936, Lorene worked at Hobart’s Farmers Co-Op and soon met her lifetime love, Cecil Ray Watson. Lorene and Cecil were married in Hobart on August 5, 1939, and were blessed with their daughter, Judy. Lorene worked as a bookkeeper in Hobart, Fort Worth, TX, and Oklahoma City. She was a devoted member of Mayfair Church of Christ and its SOS Class, and enjoyed reading, playing bridge, and running with the “Wild Bunch” – dear friends Margaret, Jane, Inell, and Betty. She cherished her family, lived with grace, and taught goodness. Always finding the time and energy, “Nan” insisted that she cook holiday meals and host countless family get-togethers. She enjoyed an active, independent life into her 90s. We will forever miss her. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Cecil, son-in-law Archie Johnson, and two sisters, Erma Mansell and June Lyde, Lorene is survived by daughter Judy Johnson of Oklahoma City; grandsons, Brandon Johnson of Grove, OK, and Johnny Johnson of Vienna, VA; great-grandchildren Megan, Ryan, Sydney and Evan; and sisters Merideth Lohn of Wilcox, AZ, and Reba Raleigh of Edmond, OK, who lived with and took loving care of her in these last several months. She is also survived by brother-in-law Coy Watson (Betty) of Lawton, OK; by sister-in-law Billie Marie Cook of Overland Park, KS; and by a host of relatives from the extended Williams and Watson families. Our family is grateful to the staff of 4B at Mercy Hospital and Dr. Robert Reynolds. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice or to Mayfair Church of Christ.
Visitation at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper will be Sunday, May 1 from 4-6 p.m. Services officiated by Mr. Darrell Rickard at Mayfair Church of Christ Chapel, Monday, May 2 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mountain Park, OK at 3 p.m.
