She was born on March 19, 1936 in Tuttle, Oklahoma to Millard Garrett and Rose Garrett.
Most of her young life was spent on her parents farms where with her 2 sisters Pearl and LoVon. They grew up learning how to work the farm and spent a lot of their young lives filling roles usually performed by the boys of the family.
She graduated high school in Tuttle, Oklahoma, and later learned clerical skills at South West Christian University until she met and married the Love of her life, Bill Malcom.
They married on December 10th 1954, in Cushing, OK where they lived until moving to Oklahoma City. In Oklahoma City her husband Bill eventually went into a construction business where for many years she assisted with many of the clerical duties.
She deeply loved the Lord and always enjoyed being active in churches she attended, eventually coming to Capitol Hill Assembly of God where she enjoyed being a greeter for many years until due to her health she sadly had to retire from her service.
She is survived by her daughter Linda Spires of Oklahoma City, OK, son Byron Malcom of Edmond OK., daughter-in-law Kim Malcom of Edmond, OK, who she loved referring to as her second daughter, 6 grandsons, Michael Spires, Stephen Spires, Scott Spires, Melvin Malcom, Caleb Malcom, and Kory Malcom, several nieces and nephews, cousins, and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Bill Malcom, sisters Pearl Stowe, LoVon Locke, mother Rose Garrett, father Millard Garrett, and great grandson Gabriel Prewitt.
One of her favorite passages from the Bible was, Psalms 118:24, this is the day that the Lord has made; We Will Rejoice and Be Glad in It. That is what she would want us to take from her life and her death. She would not want us to grieve her death but be glad and rejoice that she is now home with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She would want us to take that with us and each day rejoice for It Is The Day That the Lord Has Made.
