Louis was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Michael McFeeters and Judith McFeeters. He leaves behind his sisters Paula and Andrew Stidham Crystal and Dewayne Gary and brother Patrick and Lori McFeeters. Louis passed his GED and graduated from Dog Grooming School. Louis had 11 nieces and nephews Kurt McFeeters, Jonas Pena, Adia Pena, Chloe McFeeters, Claire McFeeters, Isaiah Gary, Audrey Gary, Vivian Gary, Terry Gary, Preston Owens, and Savannah Houchin.
Life wasn’t always easy for Louis. He was always there for others struggling with mental illness and supported the LGBTQ+ community. He not only persevered but was true to himself in all situations. He gave up caring what others thought early on and this was displayed with his magnetic confidence. He made others feel safe to be themselves, this, in turn with his passion and voracious spirit for life he cultivated lifelong friendships and plenty of family.
He had a fervent passion for animals. They weren’t just his pets, they were his children. He opened his home and heart countless time to rescue animals. Treating them and seemingly understanding them just like, or maybe even better than people. He partnered with the Great Dane rescue for years.
This love led him to a career as a dog groomer and vet tech. After getting his certificate to be a dog groomer, he went to work for a few places over the years. Always making a mark with his skill and willingness to put in long hours. His customers adored him the furry ones and the people. He had flair and would paint their nails and spend time creating the perfect fancy bows. He colored their hair had them looking stylish. He helped his friends and the industry by sharing his knowledge of the trade and connections to help them find work. There are groom shops in town that came to be in part because the owners had the joy of knowing Louis.
He loved the color orange and anything vintage. He liked to decorate and had a unique sense of style. He could pull off a daring look. He loved beads and rocks and collected them along with hand crafted jewelry and glass blown pendants. His love language was music, his whole life was immured in music. Many of his loved ones went to concerts with him over the years. He maintained his parents vinyl collection and added to it with additional records and CDs. He sang, danced, and found meaning in music. He would often send a link with the perfect song to lift you up, make you think, or tell you how he felt.
Sadly, illness took his ability to maintain his craft and he spent his final years on disability. Taking care of his furbabies until the end. He will be missed and there has been an outpouring of love.
A memorial graveside service for Louis will be held Friday, November 24, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 8701 Northwest Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK 73162.
