Mark arrived into this world on August 29, 1958, to John and Norma Donnell. He was the youngest of 3 sons. In his early years Mark was known for his sense of adventure and love of nature. Mark married the love of his life, Shirley, on March 17, 1978, and they enjoyed 43 years of marriage. Mark retired from General Motors after 30 years of service in the Paint Department. He also owned his own painting and jewelry business until his passing. Mark and Shirley retired to their lake house at Lake Texoma in 2015. Mark was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and feeding his deer. Mark would often ride around in his golf cart to chat with friends or take mini adventures. He enjoyed cooking for his friends and family and did so whenever he could. These get togethers would often also give Mark the opportunity to show his love of God by reading daily passages from Jesus Calling or “The Word” as he so often referred to it as. Mark was a spiritual man who believed that life should always be lived to its fullest potential. This belief was expressed in his daily routines as he tried to live righteous and without regret. He was the man that would give you the shirt off of his back without hesitation if you needed it. He was loyal and generous to his friends and family. Mark never met a stranger and would often spark conversations with anyone who wanted to talk and be heard. Mark was well known for his sense of humor, which at times could push the boundaries. He was also known for the “Donnell Curse” of being prone to accident and injury. Mark sustained many amazing injuries over the years and even knocked a roof off of its foundation after attempting to dry some painting clothes in the dryer. Mark enjoyed regaling his feats and near death misses to those around him. He claimed he had gold flecks in his eyes that made him invincible. Perhaps not a super hero but definitely more than a man. For his daughter he was a super hero, her favorite Monopoly rival, the person who taught her how to see the world, not just judge it, how to live her life, not just wait for it. Mark will truly be missed by many and his daughter feels graciously blessed to have called him her Dad.
Mark is survived by his wife Shirley, daughter Loree, son Sean, grandson Reece, brother Steve and nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his parents John and Norma and brother Rick.
Friends and family are encouraged to write a note or letter to Mark, which will be placed with him at his final resting place. You may bring your messages to the visitation or funeral.
