

Monica Miller Klumpp (Neeks) was born in Washington, LA to Monica Callahan Miller and Hugh Hickman Miller, July 28, 1915. She was the oldest of three girls, sisters Beverly M. Squyres and Hugh M. Touchstone, both deceased. She graduated high school, National Honor Society, and attended LSU where she pledged Chi Omega. She met and married Charles Horace Klumpp of New Orleans, LA They were married over sixty years living in Metarie, LA, Austin, TX, Pass Christian MS, and Center, TX. Her daughters Gretchen K. Pilgrim, deceased and Peggy K. Lunde were both born in New Orleans. The family moved to Austin where they lived for twelve years, both daughters attending the University of Texas. Monica and Charlie returned to New Orleans and Pass Christian, MS where they lived for twenty-five years, hosting their many friends and family members. The Hurricane Camille forced a move to Toledo Bend Lake, near Center, TX where they enjoyed many friends until their return to Pass Christian, MS.
Monica and Charlie moved to Canterbury in 1998 where Charlie died in 1999. Monica once again became active, volunteering in Residents Council, Altar Guild, Book Club, Bridge Club and reading to children at the Special School for children. She was devoted to All Souls’ Church and projects there; knitting layettes monthly for hospitals. She loved to read all kinds of literature and treasured her many friends in Oklahoma City and Canterbury where so many were dear to her.
Monica was known for her beauty and gracious presence throughout her life. She loved to entertain her many friends, cooking seafood gumbo, crab dishes and the fish, doves or quail Charlie brought home from their many hunting and fishing trips. They loved to travel and were blessed to have numerous adventures with close friends and family.
Neeks adored her grandchildren; Michael Allen Pilgrim, Steven Wilson Pilgrim, Hal W. Pilgrim, Jr., Peggy Ellen Pilgrim Seegers, Ellen M. Lunde Shorb, and Marvin C. Lunde, III (Chip). She felt blessed to have such a loving family, including her son-in-law Marvin C. Lunde, Xan Pilgrim, Lisa Pilgrim, Drive Steve Seegers, John Shorb and Wendy Lunde as well as seventeen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She celebrated her 100th birthday one year ago with sixty-five members of her loving family and friends present.
The family is grateful for the loving care Neeks received from her special caregivers including Effie Gertson and her team; Mila Carrillo, Luz Anguiano and Humanity Hospice.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 30th, at 2:00 pm at All Souls’ Episcopal Church in the Chapel of St. Mary, 6400 N. Pennsylvania Avenue OKC, OK 73116. Memorials may be made to All Souls’ Church.
