Norvell Everett "Nick" Nickell

On Saturday, April 21, Norvell Everett “Nick” Nickell joined his beloved daughter Rhonda Diane Parker at home with their Lord Jesus Christ. Nick is survived by his wife, Brenda Nickell of 50 years who served him devotedly through all the years of his illness; sons, Jerry and Danny Stokes, Danny’s fiancé Donna Porter, his daughters; Mary Embry and her husband Jimmy, Juanita Postlewait and her husband Randy, Dorothy Stokes- Emery, Linda Hales and her husband Ron. His legacy includes seven grandsons, eight granddaughters, and 23 great grandchildren.

Nick served in the Army Airborne from 1954- 1957 and later earned a degree in electrical engineering from University of Texas spending his entire professional career in related fields first retiring from IT & T, then eventually retiring from General Motors. Along the way during his 80 years Nick became a private pilot, a fanatical gun enthusiast, an avid rider of motorcycles (the bigger and faster the better) and somehow managed to serve as a Volunteer Oklahoma County Sherriff’s Deputy for over 20 years.

If you were to ask Nick about his accomplishments he’d list only his Salvation through Christ and his family. His life was characterized by quiet sacrifice and devotion to friends, wife, and family. He will be greatly missed and forever celebrated.
