Patricia Joyce Blackburn

Blackburn, Patricia Joyce Blackburn, 61, left this world to join her Heavenly Father after a battle with cancer on Friday afternoon. She was surrounded by her family at the hospital. She was born in Oklahoma City on August 26, 1948 to Charles and Lerlene Nye.

Patty was an extremely loving and giving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an exceptional cook whose home was always open to others. Her focus was always on the well-being of her family and friends who she loved unconditionally. Patty was wonderful with children she worked for many years at Mothers Day Out. She was such a fun grandma, she role played as characters and couldn’t tell her grandbabies no.

Patty will truly be missed by her husband and the love of her life Jim, sons Gary and fiancée Amy, Brandon and wife Amy, Ben and fiancée Samantha, daughter Becky and husband Travis along with seven precious grandchildren. Others left to mourn her loss include sister Nancy O’Steen and husband Steve of Arlington, TX, sister-in-law Sally Nye of Oklahoma City as well as many uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and a multitude of wonderful friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Charles Nye Jr. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Britton Christian Church, 922 N.W. 91st in Oklahoma City on Tuesday April 27, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Family will greet friends at the funeral home Monday April 26th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The family requests donations are made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
