Ralph Kenneth Lawson left his earthly home recently to join his wife of 60 plus years, Lena, in their eternal home in Heaven. Services are scheduled for 2pm Tuesday, March 16th at the Crossings Community Church Chapel.
Ralph was born in 1924 to Floyd and Myrtle Lawson of Yukon, OK. He grew up in Yukon and attended all his schooling there.
After High School Ralph went to Seattle Washington to begin his work career at a shipyard. While in Seattle, WWII began and Ralph enlisted in the Marine Corps. During his course of duty Ralph was on the USS Saratoga, where his main duties were as a bodyguard. He was on the "Sara" as he referred to it, when it was attacked during the Battle of Iwo Jima.
After the war Ralph returned home to Oklahoma to continue his business career. Through the years of his successful business career he worked with John Deere, as a construction manager, numerous other segments of the construction industry, and finished his career working for Rich-Mix.
Ralph had many passions and loves. It would be a tossup between golf and traveling in his RV as top of the list. Hot air balloon festivals and the occasional getaway to a favorite casino were also always high on the list. No one made Ralph light up like his grandson, Christopher, the absolute apple of his eye.
Ralph was a man of great faith, spending many years at The Village Christian Church. He recently starting attending the Crossings Church where he and his life partner, Jane Sloan, were immediately welcomed as loved and cherished members.
Ralph was survived by his son Richard and family, brother Harold and family, sister Floydeen and family, and numerous loving relatives.
Ralph met the second love of his life, Jane Sloan, after becoming widowed. They spent the last 8 years enjoying life, love and much travel together. Jane and her family will miss Ralph dearly.
In Lieu of flowers please send monetary or food donations to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma in Ralph's name.
