Rickie L Gray

Rickie L. Gray, the oldest child of Richard W. and Gladys L. Stubblefield was born September 15, 1948 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City. She attended and graduated from Midwest City High School. She spent most of her adult life in Midwest City, and the last 22 years in Bethel Acres. Rickie married Donald E. Ward on September 8, 1967. They had three children: Christopher Alan Ward, born October 2, 1970, Terry Lynn Ward, born January 17, 1973, and Kimberly Dawn Ward, born August 28, 1977. Rickie married Gregory G. Gray on June 9, 1995. She was a loving and very entertaining daughter, sister, wife, mother of 3, grandmother of 8, great grandmother of 4, and aunt. She retired from Tinker AFB in 2010 as a training supervisor. She loved seeing and doing new things, especially restaurants. Rickie enjoyed her snow skiing trips, the Grand Canyon, and even the races, football and bowl games she attended with her husband, Greg. She especially loved trips that were to locations with beaches, the Bahamas, Florida, Alabama, Texas, California, and Hawaii. Taking care of her family was very important, as evidenced by the Thanksgiving and Christmas meal events she prepared, especially the cherry pies. Rickie was diagnosed with stage III lung cancer on April 28, 2015. She won this battle to claim remission on October 22, 2015. She lost her battle with the many physical issues, including heart, vascular, and lung disease and lung cancer, on September 18, 2017. She passed peacefully with her family and friends around her at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Shawnee. She was preceded in death by her little sister, Anita Ann Stubblefield; and her mother, Gladys Stubblefield. She is survived by her father, Richard Stubblefield; brother and sister-in-law, Dickie and Echo Stubblefield (children, Michelle, Adam and Katie); sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Teina Ward (children, Dylan and Jake and their mother Haley), Terry and Tiffany Ward (children, Kristina, Nick, Justin and Kelly); daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly Dawn and Scott Brown (children, Kyler and Keegan); grandchildren that she and Greg raised, Kristina Mayo (daughter, Kaylin, husband Trevor and his children, Gracie and Jackson) and Nickolas Ryan Cole Ward (son, Aiden); mother-in-law, Barbara S. Gray; husband, Gregory Gray. She was a fighter to the end. The family wishes to thank the physicians, especially Dr. Tony Haddad and Dr. John Haddad, the ICU doctors and staff, the respiratory staff, the Chaplain, the cafeteria and housekeeping staff at St. Anthony’s Shawnee Hospital for their kind and loving care of Rickie and her family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Visitation will be 8a-5p Saturday and 12p-4p Sunday at Guardian West Funeral Home (5820 NW 41St, Warr Acres). Services will be held 12pm Monday, September 25, 2017 at Guardian West Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Gladney officiating.
