Robert Joe Childers

July 13, 1938-July 20, 2017 Bob, age 79, of Tuttle, OK. met his savior face to face on July 20, 2017. The son of Calvin and Hazel Childers, Bob was born in Oklahoma City on July 13, 1938. He was raised in Oklahoma City, graduated from Grant High School in 1956 and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from Oklahoma City University in 1962. In 1963, Bob joined the Air National Guard and served our country for 6 years. After college graduation, Bob went to work for GAB Robins as an insurance claims adjuster in 1965. While working and serving our country in the Guard, Bob was introduced by a fellow airman, to the love of his life Darlene Childers. They were married on March 9, 1968. He and Darlene were married for 49 years and had a special bond especially in their prayer life together. This union was blessed with two children, Joel and Rachel. Bob was a loving husband and devoted father. He was an ordained minister and lay pastor serving in many areas of leadership for 45 years. Bob had an affinity for classic cars, animals, conservative politics, great barbeque, ice cream and FOX News. He was even dubbed the “Silver Fox” for his extreme love of and time spent watching the network. Bob was a man of strong character and godly values. He had a quiet strength and loving demeanor that drew young and old toward him. He was an example to many through his wisdom, humility, kindness and loyalty. Bob would do anything for you and would be the first in line to give. He loved his children dearly but especially his grandchildren Jaden, Addison and Olivia. They have been the highlight of his life. As the true patriarch of his family, Bob will be deeply and forever missed. He is preceded in death by his father, Calvin Childers and his mother Hazel Childers. He is survived by his wife Darlene Childers, his son Joel Childers and daughter-in-law Kimberly Childers, of Oklahoma City, OK, daughter Rachel Childers-Allenbrand and son-in-law Todd Allenbrand of Fort Worth, TX, three grandchildren, Jaden Allenbrand , Addison Allenbrand and Olivia Childers.
